The first step of root canal treatment is to determine the condition of the tooth. After taking a radiograph, the initial and final diagnosis of the infected tooth is made. After removal of the pulp tissue from canals that are in the root and the empty canals are then cleaned using disinfectant irrigating solutions to ensure that no infected tissue remains inside the canal, which could cause infection to occur again.

After successfully cleaning the canals, gutta-percha points are then placed in the empty root-canals to replace the damaged pulp tissue. The gutta-percha points come in various sizes to completely fill in the canal that was emptied, the gutta percha points are adapted with the use of pressure to the canals with the aid of a plugger or dental instrument with an instrument tip that puts pressure on the points of the gutta-percha. They are then placed into the root canal through cementing them.

Once the gutta/percha points are placed in the canal, an X-ray is then used to determine whether any gaps exist. The gutta-percha points should fit in a way that you are able to predict how the final result will look before you even complete the procedure. The point will be able to fit when the previous procedure was done correctly. This will ensure that the final result is reliable and perfect. Once you have confirmed that the gutta percha points are well placed then is the time for what restoration is required to restore the tooth structure that was removed in the process of preparing the cavity. For aesthetic purposes the majority of patients opt for the crown colored with tooth. After the treatment radiographs confirm that the Root canal treatment was successful.
