The pulp tissue is extracted from root canals using Endodontic Files. There are various sizes of endodontic files. Because the diameter of the canals differs between people and teeth, these files can be used. These files are then inserted in the root canals at the occlusal tip to remove the pulp tissue. These files are flexible because root canals don't always look straight and may be seen with many curvatures towards the end.
Below is an image of the infected tooth which requires root canal therapy. It is evident that there is an infiltration of Enamel and Dentin caries which has spread to the pulp. Additionally, you can observe the root apex and the formation and progression of an abscess. After removing the pulp tissue as well as the empty root canals are cleaned using disinfectant-irrigating solution. This is to make sure that no tissue with an infection remains in the canals that can cause further infection.
After successfully cleaning the canals, the gutta-percha points are placed into the empty canals of the root to replenish the pulp tissue that was removed. Gutta-percha points are available in different sizes to fill the empty canal. The gutta percha point can be modified by applying pressure to force the gutta-percha points into the canals. After cement has been placed on the point, it is placed in the root canal.
Once the gutta percha point have been inserted into the canal, an Xray is taken to confirm that they're in the right place. The gutta percha point has to fit perfectly so that you are aware, with complete predictability, what the final outcome will look like prior to completing the procedure. If all the prior instrumentation was completed correctly, the point should be easy to place. The final outcome will be fantastic. Next step is to repair the structure of the tooth. A tooth-coloured restoration is preferred by patients to maintain aesthetics. The effectiveness of the Root canal treatment is confirmed by taking a radiograph after the complete restoration is done.
