The initial step in root canal therapy is to identify the tooth. The diagnosis is done using the symptoms mentioned above and the primary and final diagnosis is done by taking a radiograph of the suspected tooth. You can detect the infected area by slight discoloration of the teeth around it and a bacterial infection around the apex of the root. After diagnosis is done the dental cavity is created on the tooth surface in order to open the root canals. After preparation of the cavities the root can be observed at the occlusal surfaces.

Endodontics are utilized to remove the pulp tissue from roots channels. Endodontics files can be bought in different sizes. Because the diameter of the canals is different between different people and teeth they can be used. They are then employed to cleanse infected root canals and to remove the pulp tissue. Since root canals don't always appear straight, these dental files can be bent to make the process simpler.

The root canal treatment is to be done on the teeth that are infected. It is caused by caries infiltration into the Enamel and Dentin, which has entered the pulp. The root apex shows the formation an abscess. After the removal of pulp tissue from the root canals, empty canals in the root should be cleaned with disinfectant irrigation solutions to ensure that there are no infected tissue remnants within the canals.

After successfully washing the canals, gutta percha points are inserted into the empty canals of the root to replenish the pulp tissue that was removed. These guttapercha pieces are available in a variety of sizes. They can be used to fill the empty root canal. After the cement has been put in, the gutta-percha line is then inserted into the root channel.

After the canal is filled with the gutta-percha points an X-ray is taken to check if the points are in position and if there are any gaps. The gutta-percha points should be able to fit comfortably enough that you can predict what the final result will look before you have completed the process. If the previous instrumentation has been done well the point is easy to fit and the final result will be predictably superior. Next step is to restore the tooth structure. A tooth-coloured restoration is preferred by patients due to the aesthetics that can be preserved. A radiograph after complete root canal treatment confirms the effectiveness.
